Common Symptoms, urgency, and recommendations

queen_bee_80wThis may be caused by your pads being so worn out that the mettle warning tab is now scratching mettle to metal. It’s designed to do that to warn you to take time to replace the pads. If you keep going (a few days to a few weeks depending on your braking habits), we can grind down or replace your rotors too.

Threat level: important/ urgent.

Recommendation: We advise you get an appointment ASAP and get the pads replaced.

No, this isn’t your ABS brakes working as designed. This is a result of Brakes that got overheated and are no longer a smooth surface for the pads to slow down. Most likely they need to be ground flat, or replaced if they are too worn too thin. Braking abruptly is usually the behavior responsible for this issue. Of course, we are not talking about you. There is a slight possibility that someone is stealing your car each night to drag Spanish Fork. It’s possible.

Threat level: important/ not urgent – yet. Recommendation: Call us for an appointment to verify the problem, and give you a written quote.

If I barely press on the brake pedal, the car stops too fast.

Possible cause: A sliding part on the brake is sticking and isn’t responding properly. The brakes are not responding. When I press down, the car doesn’t slow down like it did. Air in the brake lines could be an issue. Fix, find any leaks, broken parts, then bleed out the air in the brake lines. When I press on the brake, the peddle goes almost to the floor, or a lot lower on the peddle than it did before. When this happens, the brake fluid either has a lot of air in it or has run out.

Threat level: Urgent/ Important. This is a serious matter not to drive on.

Recommendation: Have us, or someone look at it today.
